Crywolf — Territory Defense
CryWolf territory defense guide for MU Online Season 21 MajesticMU. Full event mechanics, Balgass boss, defense strategy, and server buff rewards.
CryWolf — Territory Defense Complete Guide
CryWolf is the most impactful server-wide event — its outcome buffs or debuffs every player on MajesticMU for hours at a time. A successful defense means better EXP and drops for all; failure means everyone suffers. This guide explains how to defend effectively.
Event Cycle
CryWolf runs in a continuous repeat cycle throughout the day. The event progresses through several states, announced server-wide:
| State | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Notice — Invasion Troops | Balgass's forces begin moving toward CryWolf |
| 2 | Prepare for attack | All players warned to head to CryWolf |
| 3 | Balgass approaches | Fortress battle imminent |
| 4 | Battle begins | Active combat — all defenders must fight |
| 5 | Announcement | Result declared; winners/losers announced |
| 6 | End cycle | Cooldown before the next cycle begins |
How to Join the Defense
- Listen for the server announcement — CryWolf state changes are broadcast to all players.
- Travel to CryWolf Fortress — Use the warp system or the gate NPC in Lorencia to reach the CryWolf maps.
- Position yourself near the CryWolf Statue — This is what you are defending.
- Fight — Kill Balgass's invasion forces when they arrive.
The CryWolf Statue
The CryWolf Statue is the primary objective. If its HP reaches zero, the defenders lose. Keep the area around it clear at all times.
- The statue has a significant HP pool
- Balgass's forces directly target the statue
- Players must intercept invasion monsters before they reach the statue
Balgass and His Forces
Balgass is a powerful boss who leads the invasion. His forces consist of several waves of strong monsters that march toward the fortress.
Key targets (kill order):
- Balgass himself — Killing Balgass ends the event immediately in the defenders' favor
- Balgass's Relics — Stationary monsters that buff nearby enemies; destroy them first if possible
- Invasion troops — Standard wave monsters; kill them before they reach the statue
Balgass's abilities:
- Extremely high HP
- AoE dark attacks
- Summons additional minions when damaged
Server-Wide Effects
| Outcome | Effect |
|---|---|
| Defenders WIN | All players on the server receive an EXP and drop rate bonus for several hours |
| Defenders LOSE | Server-wide debuff — reduced EXP and/or drop rates |
The exact bonus/penalty duration depends on server configuration.
Defense Strategy
Large Group (10+ defenders)
- Split roles: Half the group focuses on killing wave monsters; the other half targets Balgass directly.
- Use AoE near the statue entrance — Stack AoE skills at the chokepoints where monsters funnel toward the statue.
- DPS check on Balgass — If your group can kill Balgass in under 2 minutes, rush him immediately.
Small Group (under 10 defenders)
- Do NOT split — Concentrate all firepower on Balgass.
- Ignore non-statue-threatening mobs — Only intercept monsters that have clear pathline to the statue.
- Prioritize Balgass Relics — Destroying relics weakens nearby invasion troops significantly.
Solo
Solo CryWolf defense is generally not recommended for statue protection at higher cycles. However, experienced players can contribute by targeting Balgass's Relics, which reduces the overall threat.
Rewards
Defenders who participate in the battle (deal damage to Balgass or his forces) receive:
- EXP bonus
- Drop rate bonus (from the server-wide victory buff)
- Personal combat EXP from kills
